Larry Blyden
Larry Blyden, born Ivan Lawrence Blieden on June 23, 1925, was a multifaceted American talent renowned for his contributions to acting, stage production, directing, and game show hosting. He embarked on his theatrical journey with his Broadway debut in 1948, establishing a presence that would see him feature in numerous acclaimed productions both on and off Broadway.
A highlight of Blyden's career came in 1972 when he received the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his outstanding role in the revival of the classic comedy A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, a production he also took the initiative to produce. That same year marked his foray into television as the host of the celebrated game show revival, What's My Line?, where his charm and wit captivated audiences.
Tragically, Blyden's promising career was cut short when he died in a car accident while vacationing in Morocco on June 6, 1975. At the time of his passing, he was preparing to host a new game show titled Showoffs, indicating the enduring impact he was poised to make in the entertainment industry.
