Frank Gilhooley
Frank Gilhooley hails from Loanhead, a small mining community in central Scotland. Initially focused on a career as a landscape contractor, he launched his own business in the early 1990s. Frank has been married to his childhood sweetheart Angela since 1993; the couple, who grew up just around the corner from one another and attended the same schools, are proud parents to three young boys.
In 2001, Frank's life took an unexpected turn when he participated in a community play at the Edinburgh Theatre Workshops. His talent was quickly recognized, leading him to take on the role of Frank Rowley in John Godber's play "Up'n Under" during the Edinburgh Festival that same year. Shortly after, he signed with PLA Associates, though it took over a year before he landed his first role as 'John' in "One Last Chance," where he portrayed a mobster alongside renowned actor James Cosmo.
Frank's acting career flourished as he took on diverse roles across film and television in the UK. A significant highlight came in 2007 when he collaborated with acclaimed director Ken Loach in the award-winning film "It’s A Free World." The following year, he attended a masterclass by the esteemed acting coach Bernard Hiller, which further honed his skills.
Most recently, Frank appeared in the popular series "Case Histories" alongside Jason Isaacs and Victoria Wood and portrayed a menacing inmate in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy." In early 2015, he was cast as Torin in the highly anticipated television adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling series, "Outlander."
