Zeki Alasya
Zeki Alasya (April 16, 1943 – Istanbul) was a prominent Turkish actor known for his contributions to theater and cinema. He was the nephew of Kıbrıslı Mehmet Kamil Paşa and graduated from Robert College, laying the foundation for his artistic career. Alasya began his journey in the performing arts in 1959 at the MTTB Theater, where he started as an amateur. His theatrical prowess flourished as he worked with esteemed companies such as Arena, Genar, and Ulvi Uraz.
In collaboration with notable figures like Haldun Taner, Metin Akpınar, and Ahmet Gülhan, he co-founded the Devekuşu Cabaret Theater, a landmark in Turkish entertainment. His foray into film began in 1973, and alongside his frequent collaborator Metin Akpınar, he formed a dynamic duo that left a lasting impact on Turkish cinema. Throughout his career, Alasya participated in numerous films, earning recognition and admiration from audiences and critics alike.
His artistic achievements were further acknowledged in 1998 when he was bestowed with the title of State Artist by the Ministry of Culture, a testament to his significant contributions to the cultural landscape of Turkey.
