Lisa Michelle Axelrod
Lisa Michelle Axelrod is a prominent figure in the world of action-adventure films and music videos, particularly recognized for her contributions during the vibrant 1980s. Her journey began at the young age of 14 when she started as a music photojournalist for The Iron Planet, a now-defunct metal publication in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1985, she relocated to Phoenix to pursue higher education and took on a role at The Mason Jar, a legendary rock venue, where she forged connections with many iconic bands.
By 1986, at 18, Lisa moved to Los Angeles, where she began contributing to Music Connection. She left in 1987 to join the launch of RIP Magazine's "The RIP Girls," focusing on live promotions and charity events. This period culminated in her involvement with the celebrated documentary "The Metal Years," filmed at The Cathouse, which premiered on her birthday.
However, tragedy struck in 1989 when a severe car accident on Mother's Day nearly ended her life and abruptly halted her burgeoning career. This occurred just a month prior to her college graduation and the release of "Roadhouse" by MGM. After a painful recovery and the loss of her fiancé to pancreatic cancer, Lisa took a much-needed hiatus to heal in Hawaii.
Returning to Los Angeles in 2008, she earned her Master's Degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Media Psychology in Miami, Florida, where she resides with her rescue Chihuahua mix, George Lucas. In her spare time, Lisa is dedicated to mentoring women, engaging in community art projects, and advocating for environmental justice in Florida.
