Christopher Langham is an English actor, writer, and comedian best recognized for his role as cabinet minister Hugh Abbot in the acclaimed BBC Four sitcom "The Thick of It." Additionally, he portrayed the nearly invisible presenter Roy Mallard in the mockumentary series "People Like Us," which aired first on BBC Radio 4 before transitioning to BBC Two.

Langham's comedic talent also shone through in various spoof advertisements and as unseen interviewers in the television series "Happy Families," as well as in the film "The Big Tease." His extensive television credits include appearances in notable series such as "Not the Nine O'Clock News," "Help," "Kiss Me Kate," and a memorable role as the gatehouse guard in "Chelmsford 123." In 2006, he garnered two BAFTA awards for his performances in "The Thick of It" and "Help," solidifying his status in the entertainment industry.

However, Langham's career faced a significant setback in August 2007 when he was convicted of fifteen charges related to the downloading and possession of level 5 child sexual abuse images and videos. As a result, he was sentenced to ten months in prison, a term later reduced to six months on appeal. He was also required to register as a sex offender and received a ten-year ban from working with children.
