Da Brat

Shawntae Harris, known professionally as Da Brat, was born on April 14, 1974, in Chicago, Illinois. She embarked on her musical journey in 1992 after signing with So So Def Records. Da Brat made a significant impact on the hip-hop scene with her debut album, *Funkdafied*, released in 1994. The album was a commercial success, selling over one million copies and earning her the distinction of being the first female solo rapper to achieve platinum status. She was also the second female rap artist overall, following Salt-N-Pepa, to reach this milestone.
