Adrian Frederick "H" Smith, born on February 27, 1957, is a renowned English musician celebrated for his role as one of the three guitarists in the iconic heavy metal band Iron Maiden. As a pivotal member of the group, he not only contributes to the songwriting but also provides backing vocals alongside bassist Steve Harris during live performances.
Smith's musical journey began in Camden, London, where he discovered his passion for rock music at the age of 15. It was through his friendship with future bandmate Dave Murray that he was inspired to pick up the guitar. After leaving school at 16, he led a band called Urchin until its dissolution in 1980. Smith's career took a significant turn when he joined Iron Maiden in November 1980, stepping in for Dennis Stratton.
Despite a brief stint with a solo project named A.S.A.P, Smith departed from Iron Maiden in 1990 to create his own band, Psycho Motel. He further collaborated with Bruce Dickinson on his solo ventures starting in 1997. In a triumphant return to Iron Maiden in 1999, Smith played an integral role in the band's resurgence, contributing to several successful albums and tours.
