Bill Gaede

1 title Acting Buenos Aires, Argentina

Guillermo "Bill" Gaede, born on November 19, 1952, is an Argentine engineer and programmer, renowned for his involvement in industrial espionage during the Cold War at major technology firms, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Intel Corporation. While working at AMD, Gaede transmitted sensitive semiconductor industry information to the Cuban government, which subsequently relayed this data to the Soviet bloc, especially the Soviet Union and East Germany.

In 1992, Gaede made a significant decision to approach the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), which connected him with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). This collaboration aimed to infiltrate Cuban intelligence networks through his established contacts. While in this role, he secured a position at Intel in Chandler, Arizona. However, Intel Security soon uncovered his espionage activities at AMD and terminated his employment, but not before he managed to illicitly record the company's advanced Pentium processing technology from his home.

Following his escape to South America, it is alleged that Gaede sold this intelligence to representatives from China and Iran. Upon his return to the United States, he was arrested, prosecuted, and ultimately sentenced to 33 months in prison in June 1996, followed by deportation. His appeal to the 9th Circuit Court was denied, and the Supreme Court refused to hear his case.

Beyond his espionage activities, Gaede has authored critiques of mathematical physics and the scientific method, expressing his views on various scientific disciplines, which he disseminates primarily through online platforms.
