He gained fame for portraying Dr. Mike Burton in the beloved NBC sitcom "Ed," and he made a notable appearance as Jake in the popular series "Scrubs" in 2005. On September 10, 2000, Josh married Claire Rankin, marking a significant milestone in his personal life.

Raised in Monterey, California, Josh is one of three siblings, with a brother named Nathan and a sister named Joanna. The Randall family's life was marked by tragedy when their father passed away from colon cancer in 1997. In tribute to his legacy, the gymnasium at Monterey High School, where Josh played basketball and where his father taught not only Physical Education but also Chemistry and Physics, was named in his honor. During his senior year, Josh showcased his leadership and creativity as co-Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, "The Galleon."
