Lena Katina
Elena Sergeevna Katina, known as Lena Katina, is a prominent Russian singer-songwriter and the former lead vocalist of the celebrated pop duo t.A.T.u. Her musical journey began in 1999 when she was selected through a casting call arranged by advertising agent Ivan Shapovalov. This led to the formation of t.A.T.u, where she collaborated with composer Alexander Voitinsky to create tracks like "Yugoslavia" and "Why Am I." Shortly after, she was joined by 14-year-old Yulia Volkova, and the duo quickly rose to fame.
In December 2000, t.A.T.u released their debut single "I'm Crazy," which became a sensational hit across the CIS and later gained international acclaim after being translated into English. After completing her schooling in 2001, Lena pursued a degree in Psychology at the Moscow Humanitarian and Economic Institute, graduating in absentia in 2007.
In 2006, Lena and Yulia began sharing glimpses of their lives on the internet, further endearing themselves to fans. However, by March 2009, they transitioned from their group work to focus on solo careers. In January 2011, they officially disbanded during the premiere of the film "You and Me." Lena then relocated to Los Angeles and launched her international solo project, Lena Katina, in April 2009. She has since revisited t.A.T.u's classic hits and released new music, while also establishing her official website on September 11.
