Grant Feely
Grant Feely, born on October 15, 2011, in Brunswick, Georgia, discovered his passion for acting at a young age after being captivated by the behind-the-scenes aspects of the hit series Stranger Things. Although his initial exposure to the Star Wars franchise was limited to The Mandalorian, Feely's journey into the galaxy far, far away began in earnest when his agent submitted him for an audition in April 2021 for an undisclosed Disney+ series. Unbeknownst to him, this was for the highly anticipated Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
After a successful audition, which included a significant callback with casting director Carmen Cuba, Feely participated in an in-person audition with director Deborah Chow in Los Angeles. Excitingly, he received the offer to portray Luke Skywalker in early July, a role he kept under wraps for nearly nine months, sharing the news only with close family.
To prepare for his role, Chow advised Feely to avoid watching previous Star Wars films to ensure he approached the character as an ordinary boy, rather than imitating Mark Hamill’s iconic portrayal. During filming, he formed a valuable rapport with fellow actor Joel Edgerton, who played Owen Lars. One memorable scene involved Feely running in a harness, providing both thrills and laughter for the crew.
Feely’s time on set also included a memorable encounter with the props department, where he got to hold a lightsaber, igniting his love for the Star Wars universe. After completing the series, he eagerly immersed himself in the entire film franchise, becoming an enthusiastic fan.
