Anubha Gupta

Anubha Gupta (December 27, 1929 – January 14, 1972) was a distinguished Indian actress and vocalist, celebrated for her contributions to Bengali cinema. From a young age, she exhibited a passion for dance and music, which significantly shaped her artistic journey. Gupta received her education at Parry Charan Girls School in Banipith, before furthering her studies at the renowned Shantiniketan, a cultural hub known for its emphasis on the arts.

Her entry into the film industry began as a playback singer, thanks to the encouragement of music director Robin Chatterjee, who recognized her talent and introduced her to the world of cinema. Gupta made her acting debut in the film *Samarpan*, released in 1949, where her captivating performances quickly garnered attention.

In addition to her artistic accomplishments, Gupta's personal life included two marriages; her first was to football player Anil De, followed by her second marriage to fellow actor Rabi Ghosh. Throughout her career, Anubha Gupta became a beloved figure in Bengali culture, leaving behind a legacy celebrated for its artistic depth and influence in the realm of film and music.
