Lita Ford

Lita Rossana Ford, born on September 19, 1958, is a renowned rock guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and actress who made her mark in the music industry as the lead guitarist for the iconic all-female band, the Runaways, during the late 1970s. Originally from London, England, Lita moved to Long Beach, California, with her family at a young age, where her passion for music ignited after being inspired by Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple. She picked up the guitar at just 11 years old, showcasing her mezzo-soprano vocal talents alongside her instrumental prowess.

At the age of 16, Ford joined the Runaways, a groundbreaking group formed by producer Kim Fowley. The band quickly gained fame, releasing their self-titled debut album in 1976 and achieving substantial commercial success and media attention throughout their short-lived career. Lita's distinctive lead guitar work was a defining feature of the band's hard rock sound.

Despite their popularity, tensions arose within the group, particularly regarding musical direction, leading to their dissolution in April 1979.
