As a member of a distinguished family in the arts, she is the granddaughter of noted publisher Robert Laffont and the daughter of television host Patrice Laffont and Catherine Laporte. Additionally, her stepfather is the acclaimed director Édouard Molinaro.

Laffont's career took off in the late 1990s when she became a familiar face on French television.
