As the fourth of eight siblings, Ranieri's passion for performance emerged early; by age ten, he was entertaining at local events. His big break came at 14 when a music producer noticed him, leading to his first recordings under the name Gianni Rock in New York. Despite initial challenges with his voice, he rebranded as Massimo Ranieri and made a significant impact in 1966 with his television debut, captivating audiences with songs like "Bene Mio" and "Pietà per chi ti ama."
