Charles Haid
Charles Maurice Haid III, born on June 2, 1943, in San Francisco, California, is a distinguished American actor and director recognized for his dynamic contributions to film and television. He gained prominence for his role as Officer Andy Renko in the critically acclaimed police drama series *Hill Street Blues*.
Haid's journey in the performing arts began at Carnegie Institute of Technology (now known as Carnegie Mellon University), where he forged a lasting friendship with fellow student Steven Bochco. His early career saw him as the associate producer of the original stage production of *Godspell* in 1971, a project that originated at CMU.
His television career includes memorable performances in the 1976-1977 series *Delvecchio*, where he portrayed Sgt. Paul Schonski, and later as Dr. Mason Parrish in the 1980 film *Altered States*. As a director, Haid has left his mark with an episode of *ER*, for which he won a Directors Guild Award, and received nominations for directing the TV movie *Buffalo Soldiers* and an episode of *NYPD Blue*. He has also directed multiple episodes of *Nip/Tuck*, *Sons of Anarchy*, and *Criminal Minds*, where he notably played the role of Randall Garner, the infamous "Fisher King."
