Cobus Visser
Cobus Visser, born in 1949 in South Africa, was a versatile actor, voice artist, and translator renowned for his contributions to theatre, film, and television. He completed his schooling in Upington, Northern Cape, before pursuing drama at the University of Pretoria. During the 1970s, he became an influential figure in the performing arts, participating in councils in Bloemfontein and Pretoria.
Visser's career took a significant turn in 1976 when he joined the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) as a freelance translator, sync translator, dubbing director, and actor. His dedication to honing his craft led him to attend master classes at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Method School of Acting in Los Angeles, where he learned from acting legends like Al Pacino and Shelly Winters. He also traveled to England and Germany for further study, mentored by Professor Wolfgang von Stas.
His stage credits include notable productions like *The Rainmaker*, *Bobaas van de Boendoe* by André P. Brink, and *Hamlet*. In film, he appeared in popular titles such as *Die Square*, *Fiela se Kind*, and *Oh Schuks ... I'm Gatvol!*. Visser's television work spanned numerous series, including *Generations*, *Egoli: Place of Gold*, and *Molly & Wors*, alongside writing for soap operas like *Egoli* and *Villa Rosa*.
