Mushtaq Kak
Mushtaq Kak, born in 1961 in Jammu & Kashmir, India, is a distinguished actor and director known for his significant contributions to Indian theatre and film. With roots deeply embedded in the region—his father hailing from the Kashmiri Kak community and his mother from the Dogra lineage—Kak has made a profound impact on the artistic landscape of India.
Kak served as the artistic director at the Shri Ram Centre in New Delhi, where he honed his craft and led numerous acclaimed productions. He has been recognized for his directorial prowess, earning prestigious awards for his work on plays such as "Andha Yug," "Malika," and "Pratibimb." His productions "Maha Brahmin" and "Alladad" received accolades as the best plays in 1999 and 2000, respectively, showcasing his ability to resonate with audiences.
Over his career, Kak has directed more than 100 plays, adapting works from celebrated writers including Saadat Hasan Manto, Anton Chekhov, Vijay Tendulkar, and Federico Garcia Lorca. His production of "Andorra," featuring Kartik Chaudhry as Pyder, stood out as a major success.
