Dolores Schmidinger was introduced to the world of operetta at a young age, influenced by her father who performed as an opera and operetta singer in the 1950s, notably at the Vienna Volksoper. While training to become a beautician, she simultaneously pursued acting at the Krauss Drama School. At just 17, she began her theatrical journey in Vienna's cellar theaters, showcasing her talent on prominent stages.

Her breakthrough came during the 1964/65 season at Bronner’s Cabaret Theater at Kärntnertor, where her comedic skills captivated both audiences and fellow performers. This success opened doors to numerous television cabaret shows, solidifying her status as a talented entertainer.

Beyond her artistic endeavors, Schmidinger is an outspoken advocate against violence and xenophobia, as well as a supporter of AIDS awareness. She participated in a bold campaign titled "Sei so lieb," which featured nude portraits of the performers to convey strong social messages. Additionally, her personal struggles with bulimia inspired her to write the book "Raus damit!", where she candidly shares her experiences.
