John McConnell, affectionately known as John "Spud" McConnell, was born on November 13, 1958, and is a versatile American actor and radio host hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana. With a rich career spanning over 40 films, McConnell is recognized for his roles in both independent projects, often shot in the Gulf Coast area, and larger productions, including the acclaimed Coen Brothers film, *O Brother, Where Art Thou?* He has also graced the stage, notably in an off-Broadway performance of the one-man show *The Kingfish*, where he depicted the charismatic Louisiana Governor Huey P. More recently, McConnell has taken on a recurring role in the FX series *The Riches*, featuring stars Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver.
