Sarah Palin
Sarah Louise Palin, born on February 11, 1964, is a prominent American politician, commentator, and author, best known for her tenure as the ninth Governor of Alaska from 2006 to 2009. She made history as the first Alaskan to appear on a major party's national ticket when she was selected as the Republican nominee for Vice President in the 2008 election, partnering with Arizona Senator John McCain. Palin also became the first Republican woman to be nominated for this position.
Before ascending to national prominence, Palin began her political career on the Wasilla City Council in 1992 and served as the Mayor of Wasilla starting in 1996. After an unsuccessful bid for Lieutenant Governor in 2003, she was appointed Chairman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, where she oversaw the state's oil and gas operations with a focus on safety and efficiency. In December 2006, at the age of 42, she was elected Governor, becoming the youngest and first female governor in Alaska’s history. Her governorship ended in controversy when she resigned in July 2009.
An accomplished author, her memoir, "Going Rogue," has sold over two million copies. Since January 2010, Palin has been a political analyst for Fox News and starred in the reality series "Sarah Palin's Alaska." In 2014, she launched "Amazing America with Sarah Palin" on the Sportsman Channel, further showcasing her diverse career in media and politics. Palin has also been a vocal supporter of the Tea Party movement and has endorsed various candidates in several election cycles.
