Lil Wayne

Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., widely recognized as Lil Wayne, was born on September 27, 1982, and has solidified his standing as a prominent figure in American hip-hop. At just nine years old, he became the youngest artist to sign with Cash Money Records, initially forming the duo The B.G.'z with B.G. In 1997, he joined the influential group Hot Boys, alongside Juvenile, B.G., and Turk, which marked the beginning of his rise to fame. Their debut album, *Get It How U Live!*, set the stage for their later success, particularly with the 1999 release of *Guerrilla Warfare*, which significantly boosted Wayne's visibility.

That same year, he unveiled his first solo project, *Tha Block Is Hot*, which achieved Platinum status, selling over a million copies in the United States. Although his subsequent albums, *Lights Out* (2000) and *500 Degreez* (2002), garnered less commercial success, Lil Wayne hit new heights with the release of *Tha Carter* in 2004, featuring the hit "Go D.J." His 2005 follow-up, *Tha Carter II*, further solidified his reputation.

Lil Wayne's most monumental achievement came with the 2008 release of *Tha Carter III*, which sold over a million copies in its first week and earned him a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, bolstered by the chart-topping single "Lollipop." Despite facing legal troubles, including an eight-month prison sentence beginning in 2010, he continued to produce music, releasing *I Am Not a Human Being* while incarcerated. His foray into rock with the album *Rebirth* in 2010, despite mixed reviews, eventually achieved Gold status, showcasing his versatility as an artist.
