Agostino "Dino" De Laurentiis (Italian: [ˈdiːno de lauˈrɛnti.is]; born on August 8, 1919, and passed away on November 10, 2010) was a prominent Italian film producer and entrepreneur who held dual citizenship in Italy and the United States. After a short stint as an actor in the late 1930s and early 1940s, he transitioned into film production. Alongside his collaborator Carlo Ponti, De Laurentiis played a vital role in introducing Italian cinema to a global audience in the aftermath of World War II. Over the course of his career, he produced or co-produced more than 500 films, and 38 of his Hollywood productions garnered nominations for the Academy Awards. In addition to his contributions to cinema, he was the founder and operator of DDL Foodshow, a chain specializing in Italian gourmet foods. De Laurentiis's impact on the film industry and the culinary world remains significant, reflecting his diverse talents and entrepreneurial spirit.
