Matt Rippy

Matt Rippy is an American actor born in Houston, Texas. He gained significant recognition for his portrayal of the 'real' Captain Jack Harkness in the 2006 series Torchwood. Rippy's film credits include roles in Day of the Dead and Boogeyman 3. In 1994, he relocated to England and became part of the Reduced Shakespeare Company, a theatrical group known for its comedic adaptations of classic works.

In Torchwood's first season, Rippy played the character Captain Jack Harkness in the twelfth episode, depicting a young American volunteer serving as an RAF Group Captain during the Cardiff blitz of 1941. This character navigated a complicated dynamic, initially in a heterosexual relationship while also being drawn to Torchwood's iconic Jack Harkness, who arrives via a temporal shift.

Rippy also appeared in the fourth season finale of Ultimate Force titled "Slow Bomb" and featured in the BBC series Bonekickers on July 29, 2008, as an illegal looter in the episode "The Cradle of Civilisation." In 2008, he took on a role in The Dark Knight as a hostage ship's first mate and appeared as a newscaster in Hellboy II: The Golden Army. His diverse portfolio continued with a cameo in Penelope alongside Christina Ricci, and in 2010, he was featured as "Jesse," a punter in the third season premiere of Secret Diary of a Call Girl.
