Christopher Guard
Christopher Guard, born on December 5, 1953, in London, is a distinguished English actor known for his versatile performances across film, television, and theatre. He received his early education at Latymer Upper School and joined the esteemed National Theatre at the young age of 20, marking the beginning of a dynamic career.
Guard's filmography includes notable projects such as *Vienna 1900* (1973), *Memoirs of a Survivor*, and the adventure classic *Return to Treasure Island* (1986). He gained recognition for his television roles, playing the young David Copperfield in the BBC's 1966 adaptation, Marcellus in the acclaimed series *I, Claudius*, and Ferdinand in the BBC's rendition of *The Tempest*. His engaging portrayal of Ken Hodges in the long-running medical drama *Casualty*, along with his appearance as the Bellboy in the *Doctor Who* serial *The Greatest Show in the Galaxy*, further solidified his reputation.
In addition to acting, Guard showcased his singing talent in the film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's *A Little Night Music*, portraying Erich Egerman. He also lent his voice to Frodo Baggins in the animated version of *The Lord of the Rings* (1978).
Guard has three daughters, two from his marriage to actress Lesley Dunlop and one with actress Cathy Shipton. He hails from a family of performers, being the son of actor Philip Guard and actress Charlotte Mitchell, and is related to former actor Dominic Guard and actress Pippa Guard.
