Timothy Quay

Timothy Quay, born in 1947 in Norristown, Pennsylvania, is renowned as one half of the acclaimed Quay Brothers, alongside his identical twin, Stephen. His artistic journey began at the Philadelphia College of Art, followed by further studies at the Royal College of Art in London, where he and Stephen embarked on a collaborative exploration of experimental animation.

Throughout his career, Timothy has co-directed a remarkable array of short and feature films, showcasing his talent in stop-motion animation. Notable works include the hauntingly poetic *Nocturna Artificialia* (1979), the visually striking *Street of Crocodiles* (1986), the philosophical *Institute Benjamenta* (1995), and the mesmerizing *The Piano Tuner of Earthquakes* (2005).
