Don Chastain was a multifaceted American talent, recognized for his work as an actor, singer, and screenwriter. His career spanned across television and theater, with significant contributions in both Los Angeles and New York City, as well as performances throughout the United States and Canada. Notably, Chastain graced Broadway stages in acclaimed productions like Parade (1998), 42nd Street (1980), It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman (1965), and No Strings (1961).

On the small screen, Chastain made his mark in 1960 as Gerald Wiley in the "Trial by Rope" episode of the series Colt .45, sharing the spotlight with Pamela Duncan and Lurene Tuttle. His television repertoire included guest appearances on popular shows such as The Real McCoys, Rhoda, Maude, The Rockford Files, All My Children, Hawaii Five-O, The West Wing, Gunsmoke, Scrubs, and The Big Valley.

Chastain was also known for his roles in sitcoms, portraying Jim Thompson on The Debbie Reynolds Show (1969–1970) and Scott Thomas in Hello, Larry (1979–1981). In one of his later appearances, he played a “suspect” named Hayden DeBeck on the reality competition series Murder in Small Town X in 2001, where he featured prominently for six episodes.

In film, he took on the role of Lizard in the 1970 movie C.C. and Company and wrote the screenplay for The Mafu Cage (1978). Additionally, Chastain contributed as a writer for several episodes of As the World Turns between 1992 and 1995, showcasing his diverse talents in the entertainment industry.
