Angel Theory
Angel Theory is an accomplished American actress, dancer, and choreographer, best recognized for her role as Kelly on the acclaimed series The Walking Dead. Born in Far Rockaway, Queens, New York, she is the daughter of Anna Simpson. Angel honed her dance skills across various styles at prestigious institutions such as the Broadway Dance Center, EXPG Studios, and Peridance Studios. Her talent was showcased in music videos, including "Wish You Were Mine" by Phillip George and "Stranger To Love" by Charles Perry.
At the age of 14, a car accident led to progressive hearing loss, a challenge that deeply affected her emotionally. However, with encouragement from her mother, who referred to her hearing loss as a "superpower," Angel transformed her adversity into motivation.
While auditioning for The Walking Dead, she initially sought the role of Connie, but showrunner Angela Kang was so impressed by her that she cast her as Connie's sister, Kelly. Notably, the series integrated Angel's own experiences with hearing loss into the storyline, including her mother's supportive words. Additionally, she has been teaching American Sign Language (ASL) to her co-stars.
Beyond The Walking Dead, Angel stars as Olivia, a deaf teacher, in the series Kinderfanger, where she also serves as an executive producer. In this capacity, she ensures authentic representation of the hard of hearing and Deaf communities, further solidifying her commitment to visibility and advocacy in the entertainment industry.
