Edward Mulhare

Edward Mulhare (8 April 1923 – 24 May 1997) was a distinguished Irish actor who captivated audiences on television and stage over a career spanning nearly four decades. Born in Cork City, Ireland, Mulhare was initially on a path to become a doctor, but his passion for acting led him to perform in various theatrical productions, including notable engagements at The Gate Theatre in Dublin. His talent caught the attention of iconic figures such as Orson Welles and John Gielgud in London.

Mulhare gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Professor Higgins in the original Broadway run of *My Fair Lady*, succeeding Rex Harrison in 1957. He made his television debut in 1956 with *The Adventures of Robin Hood*, but it was his leading roles in *The Ghost & Mrs. Muir* and as Devon Miles in *Knight Rider* that solidified his legacy. He reprised his role in the 1991 TV movie, further endearing himself to fans.

In the mid-1980s, Mulhare hosted *Secrets of the Unknown*, a series exploring the supernatural, which remains a cult favorite among enthusiasts of history and science fiction. His film credits include *Megaforce* and *Out to Sea*, with his last appearance being on *Baywatch Nights* alongside David Hasselhoff.
