Mario Limonta's artistic journey commenced in his home province, where he initially captivated audiences as a declamationist on a local radio station. Following his high school graduation in 1955, he relocated to Havana to pursue a law degree but completed only the first year. He soon found his calling in the performing arts, making his debut on the amateur program "La corte suprema del arte," where he gained recognition as a Rising Star.

In 1959, Limonta joined the Circuito Nacional Cubano, which is now known as Radio Rebelde, lending his voice to radio dramas. His theatrical career took off when he became part of the Guernica theatre group at the National Theatre, where he showcased his talent in prominent productions, including Federico García Lorca's "Bodas de sangre," Miguel de Carrión's "Las impuras," and Abelardo Estorino's "Las vacas gordas."

Limonta's television career has been equally impressive, featuring a wide array of roles in soap operas, comedies, and adventure series. He is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Sergeant Arencibia in the beloved series "San Nicolás del Peladero." In 1964, he marked a significant milestone by landing his first leading role in the film "La decisión," directed by José Massip, which further solidified his status in the Cuban entertainment industry. Over the years, Limonta has earned a lasting reputation for his contributions to both stage and screen.
