Arthur Hansel, known as Art, pursued his education at Taft School in Connecticut before continuing his studies at Washington & Lee University in Virginia. Following his service in the Marine Corps, he embarked on an unexpected adventure in Mexico, initially intended to last two weeks but extending to four years during a time when Acapulco was a true paradise. In the 1960s, Hansel moved to Italy, immersing himself in the vibrant film culture of the era, characterized by the tail end of the Dolce Vita. He became an actor in various action films shot in stunning locations across Europe, including behind the Iron Curtain and in North Africa.

Returning to Mexico in 1969, Hansel participated in numerous film projects, collaborating on both U.S. co-productions and Mexican productions. Although some of these films were forgettable, the thrilling atmosphere often surrounded them, with productions taking place amidst imminent natural or political upheaval. Upon returning to the United States, his acting career began to wane after appearing in the daytime soap opera Hôpital central in 1963. This shift prompted Hansel to transition into writing, resulting in the publication of three suspense novels that reflect the excitement and unpredictability of his diverse career. Through his multifaceted experiences, Art Hansel has left a unique mark on both the film and literary worlds.
