Rick Heinrichs
Rick Heinrichs is a prominent American production designer, effects artist, art director, and film producer, celebrated for his extensive collaborations with filmmaker Tim Burton. His notable credits include iconic films such as The Nightmare Before Christmas, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, and Ang Lee's Hulk. Heinrichs began his career focusing on visual effects, contributing to projects like The Watcher in the Woods and Burton's own Hansel and Gretel and Vincent. His early work also encompassed television, including Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and the film Nutcracker: The Motion Picture, as well as Burton's Frankenweenie.
Heinrichs won the Academy Award for Best Art Direction for his work on Sleepy Hollow during the 72nd Academy Awards, further showcasing his talent with nominations for Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events in 2004 and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest in 2006. He was also involved in conceptual designs for the ill-fated Superman Lives project, which was directed by Tim Burton.
