Didier Claude Deschamps, born on October 15, 1968, is a distinguished French football manager and former player, who has been at the helm of the France national team since 2012. As a player, Deschamps was a tenacious defensive midfielder, showcasing his skills at top clubs across Europe, including Marseille, Juventus, Chelsea, and Valencia, in addition to stints at Nantes and Bordeaux. Known affectionately as "the water-carrier" by teammate Eric Cantona, he was celebrated for his tactical acumen, work ethic, and exceptional leadership.

During his international career, Deschamps earned 103 caps for the French national team, participating in three UEFA European Championships and one FIFA World Cup. He captained France to victory in the 1998 World Cup and the UEFA Euro 2000, solidifying his legacy in the sport.

Deschamps' club achievements include winning two Ligue 1 titles with Marseille and making history by leading the club to its first UEFA Champions League title in 1993, a feat that made him the youngest captain to achieve this honor. His impressive run with Juventus saw him win three Serie A titles and the UEFA Champions League in 1996. He also enjoyed success with Chelsea, lifting the FA Cup in 2000, and reached another Champions League final with Valencia.

As a manager, Deschamps began with Monaco, securing the Coupe de la Ligue in 2003 and reaching the Champions League Final in 2004. He later guided Juventus to the Serie B title in 2007 and led Marseille to the Ligue 1 title and multiple domestic cups. Under his leadership, the French national team reached the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup, the Euro 2016 final, and ultimately triumphed at the 2018 World Cup, making Deschamps one of only three individuals to have won the tournament as both a player and manager.
