Matthew Jefferson, widely recognized as Kemba and previously known as YC the Cynic, was born on November 21, 1990, in the Hunts Point neighborhood of the Bronx, New York. Emerging as a significant figure in the hip-hop scene, Kemba gained notable recognition early in his career when Deli Magazine named him one of the "Top 5 Underground Hip-Hop Artists in New York" in 2010. His artistry was further acknowledged when he was designated as "DXNext" by the influential hip-hop platform HipHopDX in 2011.
