Asmae El Moudir
Asmae El Moudir, born in 1981 in Salé, Morocco, is an accomplished documentary filmmaker renowned for her impactful storytelling. She earned her master's degree in documentary cinema from Abdelmalek Essaâdi University in Tetouan and furthered her education with a master's in production from the Superior Institute of Information and Communication in Rabat. Additionally, she honed her skills at La Fémis in Paris, ultimately graduating from the Moroccan Film Academy in Film Directing/Fiction in 2010.
El Moudir began her career with a series of short films before making her mark with her debut feature, *The Mother of All Lies* (Le mensonge originel). In 2011, she followed up with *The Postcard*, her first documentary feature that garnered critical acclaim. Her documentary work has extended to collaborations with prestigious networks such as SNRT, Al Jazeera Documentary, BBC, and Al Araby TV.
Throughout her career, El Moudir has received numerous prestigious awards, showcasing her films at festivals across the globe and participating in co-production markets. In 2022, she was selected for the Netflix Equity Fund alongside three other prominent Arab female filmmakers, highlighting her influence and dedication to representing Arab stories in cinema.
