Joseph "Joe" Thomas, born on October 28, 1983, is an accomplished English actor. He is best known for his portrayal of Simon Cooper in the E4 sitcom The Inbetweeners, which aired from 2008 to 2010, and in its subsequent film adaptations, The Inbetweeners Movie (2011) and The Inbetweeners 2 (2014). Following the conclusion of The Inbetweeners, Thomas continued his association with Channel 4 by joining the cast of the comedy-drama Fresh Meat in 2011. He played the character Kingsley Owen until 2016. Thomas later reunited with his Inbetweeners co-star James Buckley in the BBC Two sitcom White Gold, where he took on the role of Martin Lavender. In 2018, he appeared in the comedic film The Festival.

Originally from Chelmsford, Essex, Thomas is the eldest of four brothers. He attended King Edward VI Grammar School in Chelmsford before pursuing a degree in History at Pembroke College, Cambridge. During his time at Cambridge, he became a member of the Footlights, where he collaborated with future Inbetweeners co-star Simon Bird. In the 2005-2006 academic year, Thomas served as Secretary, while Bird held the position of President of the Footlights. After completing his studies in 2006, Thomas shared an apartment with Bird and fellow Pembroke College graduate Jonny Sweet, who was also part of the Footlights.
