John 5
John William Lowery, widely recognized by his stage name John 5, was born on July 31, 1970. He is an accomplished American guitarist whose career took a significant turn in 1998 when he departed from David Lee Roth's solo band to join the rock ensemble Marilyn Manson, stepping in for the guitarist Zim Zum.
Continuing his journey under the moniker John 5, Lowery later became the guitarist for Rob Zombie, showcasing his versatility across various musical styles. In 2022, he transitioned from Rob Zombie to become the touring lead guitarist for Mötley Crüe.
In addition to his work with notable bands, John 5 has pursued a solo career, releasing ten studio albums that highlight his guitar skills. His discography includes titles such as Vertigo (2004), Songs for Sanity (2005), The Devil Knows My Name (2007), Requiem (2008), The Art of Malice (2010), God Told Me To (2012), Careful With That Axe (2014), Season of the Witch (2017), Invasion (2019), and Sinner (2021). He has also produced a remix album, Remixploitation (2009), and live albums including It's Alive (2018) and Live Invasion (2020).
As a staff writer for Chrysalis Records, John 5 has collaborated with a wide array of artists, such as Avril Lavigne, Rob Halford, k.d. lang, Garbage, Meat Loaf, Scorpions, Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, FeFe Dobson, and Steve Perry, and has written and recorded with the legendary Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd.
