Birgitte Hjort Sørensen

Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, born on January 16, 1982, is a celebrated Danish actress known for her versatile performances across film and television. Raised in Birkerød after her birth in Hillerød, Sørensen was inspired to pursue acting after experiencing a live performance of the musical Chicago during her school years. She honed her craft at the Danish National School of Performing Arts, where she laid the foundation for her successful career.

Sørensen made her television debut in a small role in the series The Eagle in 2005, but quickly garnered attention for her portrayal of Roxie Hart in the Copenhagen staging of Chicago, which later took her to the West End. However, it was her role as the ambitious journalist Katrine Fønsmark in the acclaimed political drama Borgen, airing from 2010 to 2013, that truly marked her ascent in the industry.
