Shengwei Zhou
Shengwei Zhou (周圣崴) is a talented Chinese filmmaker, stop-motion animator, and mixed-media digital artist whose work has garnered international acclaim. He earned his undergraduate degree in Art Theory from Peking University before advancing to the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, where he received a Master of Fine Arts in Expanded Animation.
Zhou's notable feature animation, SHe, was nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at the prestigious 21st Shanghai International Film Festival, recognized as an A-category event by FIAPF. His other feature film, Art is Dead, received the Spirit of Freedom Award at the 14th FIRST International Film Festival, highlighting his unique storytelling and artistic vision.
Currently, he is developing an innovative animation and VR/XR series entitled Perfect City, which continues to expand his creative repertoire. His works, including SHe, Art is Dead, Let’s Fall In Love, and the Perfect City series, have been showcased in over 100 film festivals and exhibitions worldwide, including those qualifying for the Oscars, BAFTA, and Canadian Screen Awards. His contributions to the arts have also been highlighted in prominent media outlets such as Hollywood Variety magazine, further establishing him as a significant figure in contemporary animation and digital art.
