Chong Jun
**Chong Jun: 9th Dan in Tae Kwon Do**
Born in South Korea, Chong Jun began his journey in martial arts at the tender age of eight. Despite his initial shyness, he quickly rose through the ranks, earning accolades in both national and international Tae Kwon Do competitions. His dedication led him to explore a variety of martial arts disciplines, including Hapkido, Judo, Aikido, and boxing, solidifying his passion for self-defense.
In pursuit of new opportunities, Chong immigrated to Los Angeles, where he began teaching at a martial arts school. He honed his instructional approach and developed a comprehensive curriculum that integrated multiple martial arts styles. In 1973, he established his first school in Rosemead, followed by the acquisition of a second school on Wilshire Blvd. from Chuck Norris, which later became the Jun Chong Tae Kwon Do Headquarters.
Chong Jun, a lifelong learner, continues to train in various disciplines, including Kendo, Iaido, Aikido, Escrima, and Jiu Jitsu, while teaching daily. His extensive list of students features notable personalities such as Phillip Rhee, Simon Rhee, Jay Leno, and Sugar Ray Leonard, among others, contributing to the growth and reputation of his martial arts system in Southern California.
As a distinguished 9th dan black belt, Chong Jun has been recognized in martial arts publications for his expertise and commitment, with over 50 years of experience. He founded the World United Martial Arts Organization (WUMAO) to unite martial arts schools globally. Additionally, he has made contributions to film as an actor and producer in projects like "Street Soldiers" and "Bruce Lee Fights Back from the Grave."
