Sigrún Edda Björnsdóttir, born on August 30, 1958, in Reykjavik, Iceland, is a celebrated actress and author known for her diverse contributions to Icelandic theater and literature. She is the daughter of actress Guðrún Ásmundsdóttir and flight mechanic Björn Björnsson.

After completing her education at the Icelandic Theater School in 1981, Björnsdóttir made a name for herself on stage, taking on a variety of roles at the National Theater of Iceland and other venues. Her performances have ranged from the whimsical Pippi Longstocking to the tragic Ophelia in Shakespeare's Hamlet, showcasing her versatility as an actress.

Björnsdóttir is also a dedicated mother of two and is married to set designer Axel Hallkell Jóhannesson. In 2001, she ventured into writing with her debut book, which tells the enchanting story of Bóla, a young troll girl, and her friend Hnútur as they embark on adventures from Þingvellir to Reykjavik's Independence Day festivities. Bóla, a character created by Björnsdóttir for children's television in 1990, remains beloved among Icelandic children and adults alike.
