James Murphy
James Jeremiah Murphy, born on February 4, 1970, is a multifaceted American artist recognized for his contributions as a musician, DJ, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the mastermind behind LCD Soundsystem, a project that first captured public attention with the hit single "Losing My Edge" in 2002. The band's self-titled debut album followed in February 2005, earning widespread acclaim and reaching the top 20 in the UK charts.
LCD Soundsystem continued to build on its success with the release of "Sound of Silver" in 2007 and "This Is Happening" in 2010, both of which received high praise from critics and made their mark on the Billboard 200, landing in the top 50. The band was recognized by Rolling Stone as one of the New Immortals, a designation for artists believed to have lasting impact.
In 2011, LCD Soundsystem announced their disbandment, culminating in an emotional farewell performance at Madison Square Garden on April 2 of that year. Following the split, Murphy explored various creative avenues. In early 2016, the band reunited, thrilling fans with a performance at the Coachella Festival and subsequently releasing their fourth album, "American Dream," along with a tour in 2017. LCD Soundsystem headlined the All Points East festival in Victoria Park, London, in May 2018 and is set to return in August 2024.
