Mark Warner
Mark Robert Warner, born on December 15, 1954, is a prominent American politician and businessman currently serving as Virginia's senior United States senator, a position he's held since 2009. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as the 69th governor of Virginia from 2002 to 2006. In the Senate, Warner holds the roles of vice chair for both the Senate Democratic Caucus and the Senate Intelligence Committee.
In 2006, Warner was a strong contender for the Democratic nomination for the 2008 presidential election but ultimately decided against running, prioritizing his family life. He gained national recognition by delivering the keynote speech at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was briefly considered a potential vice presidential nominee until he opted to focus on his Senate campaign.
Warner was first elected to the Senate in 2008 and successfully secured reelection in 2014 and 2020. He became Virginia's senior senator in 2013 following the retirement of Senator Jim Webb. Additionally, he serves as the honorary chairman of Forward Together PAC.
