Derek Phillips
Derek Phillips, an accomplished film and stage actor, was born on April 18, 1976, in Miami, Florida. He pursued his passion for acting at Baylor University, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Following his graduation, Derek relocated to New York City to embark on a professional acting career. His early work included performances in regional theaters across the country, showcasing his talent in productions such as "The Winter's Tale" at Baltimore Center Stage, "Of Mice and Men" at the Dallas Theater Center, "The Glass Menagerie" with the Virginia Stage Company, and "King o' The Moon" at Capital Repertory Theatre.
Derek's dedication to his craft paid off as he secured recurring roles on popular soap operas like "The Guiding Light," "As the World Turns," and "All My Children." His career reached new heights when he portrayed the emotionally complex character Billy Riggins on the acclaimed NBC series "Friday Night Lights," which earned him significant recognition.
In addition to his acting work, Derek plays a vital role in the award-winning Second Thought Theatre as an associate producer, assistant director, and resident actor.
