John Holmstrom, born in 1954, is an influential figure in the realm of American underground comics and literature. Renowned for his distinctive artistic style, Holmstrom gained significant recognition for his work on the iconic album covers of the Ramones, particularly for "Rocket to Russia" and "Road to Ruin." His creative prowess extends to the memorable characters Bosko and Joe, which he brought to life in Scholastic’s "Bananas" magazine from 1975 until 1984.

At just 21 years old, Holmstrom made a substantial impact on the punk scene by becoming the founding editor of "Punk Magazine," a key publication that captured the essence of the underground music culture of the time. Following the magazine's conclusion in 1979, he continued to showcase his talent across various platforms, contributing to notable publications such as The Village Voice, Video Games magazine, K-Power, and Heavy Metal.
