Kevin Hooks
Kevin Hooks, born on September 19, 1958, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a multifaceted American actor, director, and producer. He rose to prominence through his compelling performances in films such as *Aaron Loves Angela* and *Sounder*, but he is perhaps most recognized for his portrayal of Morris Thorpe in the hit television series *The White Shadow*. In 1986, he took on a leading role in the short-lived ABC sitcom *He's the Mayor*.
Hooks has also made significant contributions behind the camera, directing notable films such as *Passenger 57*, featuring Wesley Snipes, and *Fled*, starring Laurence Fishburne and Stephen Baldwin. His directing talents extended to television, where he played a pivotal role in the series *Prison Break* and helmed two episodes of the critically acclaimed show *Lost*, including "White Rabbit" and "Homecoming".
In 2003, Hooks revisited his roots by directing a TV remake of *Sounder* for ABC's Wonderful World of Disney, reuniting with his original co-star Paul Winfield, who took on a different character in this adaptation. Kevin Hooks is the son of Yvonne, a state employee, and Robert Hooks, a prominent actor and director known for his work in the 1970s. Among friends, he is affectionately known as "King Royal."
