Jonno Roberts
Jonno Roberts, a distinguished actor hailing from New Zealand, has made his mark in American theatre and film since relocating to the United States in 1999. With a dynamic presence on both stage and screen, he has captivated audiences across the US and Europe.
Roberts quickly earned acclaim for his compelling performances in several productions that have become staples of American theatre. Noteworthy among these is his role in the acclaimed New York production of Tracey Letts' "BUG," where he took over the lead from Michael Shannon. He delivered a powerful portrayal of Eilif in Janos Szasz's "Mother Courage" at the American Repertory Theatre, and starred as Edmund the Bastard opposite Stacy Keach's "King Lear" at Chicago's Goodman Theatre. He also featured in the provocative "Camino Real," directed by the renowned Catalan filmmaker Calixto Bieito, another production staged at the Goodman.
His artistic contributions have not gone unnoticed; he was highlighted as a significant figure by the National Endowment for the Arts. Before his American career took off, Roberts was a well-known comedian in New Zealand, and he occasionally performs at the iconic LA venue Largo with his longtime friend Rhys Darby.
Jonno Roberts holds a Master’s degree from Harvard University's Institute for Advanced Theatre Training and has also studied at the esteemed Moscow Arts Theatre School, further enriching his artistic journey.
