Clement von Franckenstein
Clement George Freiherr von und zu Franckenstein (May 28, 1944 – May 9, 2019) was the only son of Sir George Franckenstein, a prominent figure who served as the Austrian Ambassador to the Court of St. James. Sir George, who had spent eighteen years as Austria's Minister in London, chose to remain in England following the Nazi annexation of Austria in 1938. He became a British citizen and was knighted shortly thereafter. Clement was born to Sir George and his wife, Editha King, on July 31, 1939. Tragically, both parents lost their lives in a plane accident on October 15, 1953, leaving him in the care of British friends.
Clement received his education at the prestigious Eton College and went on to serve as a lieutenant in the Royal Scots Greys, stationed in the Middle East and Germany. He held dual citizenship in both Britain and Austria. Initially pursuing a career in music, he studied opera for three years, transitioning from baritone to tenor. However, he ultimately decided to shift his focus to acting. After honing his skills in nightclubs, he made his television debut at the age of 27 in the mini-series "QB VII" (1974), alongside actors Ben Gazzara and Lee Remick. Throughout his career, Franckenstein developed a reputation for his versatile performances, leaving a lasting mark in the entertainment industry before his passing in 2019.
