Kris Wu, born Wu Yifan on November 6, 1990, is a Chinese-Canadian former musician and actor, renowned for his role in the popular boy band EXO and its sub-unit EXO-M. He gained significant fame as a vocalist and rapper in the K-pop industry before departing from EXO in May 2014 to pursue a solo career. Wu's musical journey was marked by successful singles and collaborations that solidified his presence in the entertainment world.

However, Kris Wu's career took a dramatic turn in July 2021 when he was apprehended by Beijing authorities following serious allegations of sexual misconduct that surfaced on social media. In August of the same year, the People's Procuratorate of Chaoyang District authorized his arrest on charges of rape. On November 25, 2022, a Beijing court sentenced him to 13 years in prison for coercing three intoxicated women into sexual acts at his residence. In addition to his prison sentence, he faced a hefty fine of 600 million yuan (approximately US$84 million) for tax evasion, as announced by the Beijing Municipal Tax Service shortly after his sentencing. As of now, Kris Wu remains incarcerated, marking a significant fall from grace for the once-celebrated star.
