Chandra Currelley-Young
Chandra Currelley-Young is a talented American actress and vocalist, known for her extensive collaborations with director and writer Tyler Perry. Throughout her career, she has taken on numerous roles in Perry's various productions, including several stage plays.
Currelley-Young began her journey in the entertainment industry as a member of the SOS Band, where she performed from the late 1980s until 1992. After leaving the band, she shifted her focus towards acting and theater. Her theatrical background led her to be chosen by Debbie Allen as the featured soloist in the production "Soul Possessed," which premiered at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 1995, Chandra was invited to showcase her talents in the Apollo Revival of "The Wiz," portraying Evillene, The Wicked Witch of The West. Following that, she was handpicked to perform in David Petrarca's acclaimed production "Dinah Was," which tells the story of legendary singer Dinah Washington.
Currelley-Young solidified her acting career with her role in Tyler Perry's film "Madea's Big Happy Family" and has since appeared in numerous other productions created by Perry, further establishing her presence in the entertainment industry.
